What did one shepherd say to the other shepherd? Let’s get the flock out of here!

Description

I just realized that since the holiday season is upon us, now is the perfect time to pull out some classic holiday movies.  Lethal Weapon and Die Hard.  Both of the movies are set during Christmas, and both are great 80′s action flicks.

Lethal Weapon has always been one of my favorite due to the great blend of action and comedy, as well as the great chemistry between Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.  It’s a fun, action packed movie with great one liners and gun battles, and the classic final fight between Gibson and Gary Busey (Mr. Joshua).  I still need to purchase Lethal Weapon on Blu Ray, as it’s one of the titles I would really like, that I don’t have yet.

Die Hard ranks as another classic.  From the opening limo scene (set to the sound of RUN D.M.C’s Christmas in Hollis), this movie just keeps rolling.  So many characters have achieved almost cult like status from this movie.  Hans Gruber(which first introduced me to Alan Rickman), Ellis, John McClane, the list goes on.  It’s another action packed movie, that although not as funny as Lethal Weapon, isn’t without it’s humors moments.  I picked this one up on Blu Ray last year, and I’m looking forward to the first snowy night that I can pop this in, curl up under a blanket, grab some popcorn and sit back and be entertained.  I know that most people wouldn’t consider these films to be Christmas staples, but to me, they rank right up there with National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, and A Christmas Story.  If anyone has any other suggestions for good action movies set during the holiday season, shoot me a line and let me know.  Until next time….

I love Elf… It just puts me in the holiday mood and makes me smile no matter what… :)

I know it isn’t an action film but hey.. I also really enjoy the Nightmare Before Christmas

I love Elf too. It cracks me up, and I like it because it’s just so over the top. Plus, you’re someone after my own heart, Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorites of all time. I watch it every year, and made it to the theaters to see it in 3D. Tim Burton is the best.
